A New York Times Op-Doc
Emily is a multidisciplinary artist working extensively as a film director and writer across genres. She’s been honored for her work as a writer, director, art director and photographer.
Her work includes the award winning animated doc HER BABY DIDN’T BLOCK HER JUMPSHOT, The NY Times Op-doc SANDORKRAUT, the chimerical puppetry film THE NEVER BELL, the feminist-futurist THE CLOCK, her lyrical debut feature SONG OF THE BASQUES, and the festival favorite A BIT OF EVERYTHING AND MATZOH BALLS TOO. She also produced KARLA’S ARRIVAL (short-listed for Spain’s Goyas) and directed NBC’s Comedy Showcase. Her award-winning screenplays, MIDLAND and ALL THAT FOLLOWS, explore our relationship with the natural world through character-driven, genre-bending narratives. Her dark-comedy INVISIBLE ISLANDS won the Sloan-Tribeca prize.
Her films have been recognized by many film festivals and organizations, including NBC Talent, the European Film Council, Tribeca Film Institute, ITVS, Marble House, the Sloan Foundation, Athena-Iris, Stowe Story Labs, the Fulbright Foundation, the Smithsonian, and many more. Emily plays cello, competed as an elite triathlete, speaks Spanish, French, Italian and Basque and volunteers as a translator for detained migrants and asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border.
